 Early Life and Career Beginnings

Daniel Balaji hailed from Chennai, where he was born to a Telugu father and a Tamil mother.

His journey in the entertainment industry began as a unit production manager on the sets of Kamal Haasan’s unreleased film, Marudhanayagam.

Balaji’s television debut came in the form of the serial Chithi, where he portrayed a character named Daniel. His talent caught the attention of director Sunder K. Vijayan, who continued to associate him with the name Daniel Balaji in subsequent projects.

 Breakthrough Roles

1. Kaakha Kaakha (2003):

Balaji’s first major role was in this action-packed film alongside Suriya. He played a police officer in a squad fighting organized crime in Chennai.

Directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, the movie received critical acclaim.

2. Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu (2006):

In this blockbuster, Balaji portrayed the antagonist Amudhan opposite Kamal Haasan.

The film, also directed by Menon, focused on a series of murders and showcased Balaji’s acting prowess.

3. Polladhavan (2007):

Balaji continued his successful streak with this film.

His performance added depth to the character of Ravi.

 Malayalam Ventures

Balaji made his Malayalam debut with the film Black.

He played pivotal roles in Bhagavan (opposite Mohanlal) and Daddy Cool (opposite Mammootty).

On March 29, 2024, Daniel Balaji passed away due to a heart attack at the age of 48.
