World’s Longest Dosa Unveiled!


Celebrating a century of culinary heritage, MTR Foods, a popular South Indian restaurant chain, set a new world record in Bengaluru, India, on March 15, 2024. They created a massive 123-foot-long dosa, etching their name in the Guinness World Records.

A Dosa Fit for a Celebration

The record-breaking dosa wasn’t just about size; it was a culmination of meticulous planning and teamwork. A team of 75 chefs, led by Chef Regi Mathew, collaborated to achieve this feat. The colossal dosa was cooked at the MTR Factory in Bommasandra, using a specially designed griddle to ensure even cooking of the entire length.

More Than Just a Dosa

This record-breaking attempt wasn’t just a publicity stunt. It marked MTR’s 100th anniversary, a testament to their enduring legacy in South Indian cuisine. The massive dosa was a symbol of their commitment to tradition and innovation.

The Challenge of the Long Dosa

Creating a dosa of such magnitude presented unique challenges. The batter recipe had to be adjusted to maintain consistency over such a large surface area. Maintaining even heat distribution across the griddle was crucial to ensure the dosa cooked perfectly without burning. The team reportedly went through 110 trial runs before achieving a successful 123-foot dosa.

A Sweet Victory

The successful creation of the world’s longest dosa was met with much fanfare. Videos of the colossal dosa being prepared and unfurled were widely shared on social media. The achievement was a source of pride for MTR and a celebration of South Indian cuisine on a global platform.
